TAAS Telescope Loan Program

The Telescope Loan Program provides telescopes and other observing equipment to TAAS members free of charge.

The program maintains a number of telescopes ranging from 6-inch portable scopes perfect for observing the Moon and planets to a 13-inch "light bucket" for serious deep sky use.

The loan period is one month and any TAAS member is eligible to borrow any scope.

The scopes displayed in this section of the web site are divided into 3 categories:

Reflectors
Other Scopes
Accessories

Reflectors are scopes that have a mirror at the bottom end of the tube (or structure) and "reflect" light. They are easy to use but normally do not have an electronic "go-to" feature that allows the scope to be guided by a control device to go to deep sky objects.
Other scopes (which obviously takes in all other kinds of scopes), often have the computer guided feature but are more difficult to use because of it.
Accessories are not scopes but items that facilitate and extend the use of a scope.
