Brock Parker's Star Hog
|

|
|
| You've probably never seen anything quite like
it. But what do you get when you cross a 1200cc Harley
Davison, with a full blown astronomy nut? Answer: Brock
Parker's Star Hog - An 18" hand build Dob, mounted on
a custom built motorcycle trailer, complete with ladder storage
and ramps. |
| Brock explains: "The whole idea for the trailer hit me as
Tom and I were finishing up the 18 last December. Santa brought me
a Sportster for Christmas, and I thought why not?"
It was a marriage made in the stars.
|

|
| So Brock and fellow astronomy nut and TAAS member
Tom Saunders, went to work. They had already been working
together on rebuilding an the 18" Dob, which seemed perfect
for the job. |
| "It developed into a bit more of a project than we
anticipated, but the final result was worth all the fuss."
Brock continues to add to his Star Hog, and make
refinements. Most noticable are the chrome rims added to the
trailer in recent weeks since these photos were taken. |
 |
| "If you remember Robin Pembly and the Rabbinian,
on the back of his Honda, - that was the germ for the trailer. I
thought that it would be a super hoot to show up at a school with
a fairly large Dob and a Harley 'HEY, KID You Wanna look in this
here telescope?' The sprit of P.T. Barnum lives on " |
| Brock premiered the Star Hog at TAAS's 2002 Astronomy Day, where
he had the pleasure of roaring his Harley up and down the normally
"off limits" shopping mall.
