| Our regular monthly meeting for October
2003, just happened to fall on the night of a total lunar
eclipse. Our normal routine on something like this is to
gather at the UNM Campus Observatory for a public viewing.
However, I pushed for what I though would be a better location
at the Lodestar Astronomy Center. Karen Keese ended-up
doing all of the footwork to make it happen, and we had an
absolutely wonderful event.
Early clouds seemed poised to mask the views, but about the
time of totality, the skies cleared. Hundreds watched the
views, 2 TV stations covered the event, and Barry Spletzer gave
a talk on "How Did The Moon Get Into My
Telescope".
