The Hipparcos and Tycho Catalogs - 3 volume hard cover set.

These volumes are the core of Sky and Telescopes "Millenium Star Atlas" which originally sold for ¤249 and is no longer in print (not even on Amazon.com) The Catalogs contain 1548 charts covering the entire sky down to a magnitude limit of 10 - 11. Please check Wikipedia for a full description of all the objects identified on the atlas. Detailed charts of this quality are absolutely essential for the serious amateur. The 3 volumes are guaranteed brand new with one volume still in its original cellophane wrapping.

10 inch reflector

The scope is all custom made. If I remember right its a 4.6 focal length. The mirror was custom ground from a 2 inch thick pyrex blank by Steve Swayze in California who is a world renowned mirror maker. The diameter of the mirror is 10 inches. I don't remember the brand of the ultra-lite focuser but when the scope was made, it was the best money could buy. The pivots are from Orion and are cast aircraft grade aluminum (from the Orion 12 inch DOB scope) . There is an access panel just above the mirror for cleaning and the tube is all lined with felt to prevent reflection within the tube. The mirror bracket is also cast alum for fast mirror cooling and at the time it was made, it was also the best anyone could buy. There is a Velcro strip that runs down the top of the tube where I used a Velcro strap-on ankle weight to balance the scope with the very heavy Pentax eye pieces I have. The tube itself was custom made by a company in Canada made to specific spec's especially for this scope. I don't remember the brand the secondary mirror is as its simply been too many years since I was last able to use the scope. It is a heavy scope which I found to help with vibrations from any wind. It also has teflon pads under each pivot and a bearing system between the base and the carriage. It would be very easy to have a cradle made for transporting the scope. 10" Dobsonian telescope

Dobsonian telescope; not a truss tube design. It measures 16" diameter across the outside of the tube, with a 10" mirror. The tube is made of Sonair, heavy cardboard tubing (one of the use of Sonair tubing is to pour concrete when it has to be poured away from the delivery source. The inside is lined with black felt to cut down on reflection and maximize light collection. It has a Moonlite brand 2" focuser with an 11/4" adaptor in it. There is a spotting scope that will mount onto the OTA. The owner states that the mirror was made by Swayzie Optical,of very good quality and polish. The base is a simple turntable type, ,owner built, 2 pieces of teflon material where the scope moves up and down. Once in place it held in position by weights that velcro onto the tube .No eyepieces, but will accept 2" and 11/4"l. Base is about 7' tall in full vertical, about 40-50 lbs. max.
