Collectable Telescope Originally purchased as an observatory field telescope in 1958 and retired from service in 1972, it was sold to a private collector in 1973. This scope represents the ultimate in (now antique) professional custom instruments. It has been meticulously maintained and cherished over the years as a magnificent showpiece and prized collectible. The telescope, with equatorial motor drives and heavy-duty wooden tripod weighs approximately 95 pounds. Custom built in 1958 by R. R. Cook and Carroll Instruments of Pasadena, California, it is replete with a 4 1/4 inch objective lens, 5 inch shroud, 1 1/4 inch eye piece optics, 2 1/2 inch finder scope with illuminated target reticule, solid brass focusing assembly and fittings, focal length ratio of F/15 with hand held remote control unit for celestial positioning and tracking.

Takahashi FS-128 5” f 8.1 Fluorite Apochromat Refractor with EM-200 Mount (equatorial motor mount with remote control, polar alignment telescope and counter weights), wooden tripod SE-L, 7 x 50 Takahashi finder scope with holder, diagonal prism (1.25), and 5 oculars. Oculars: MC LE 5 mm, MC LE 7.5 mm, MC LE 18mm MC LE 30mm and Teleview 2X Barlow. All equipment (except tripod) in original boxes. Used twice due to personal eye damage.
