TAAS members now have the opportunity to join the Astronomical League as members of an affiliated club. Previously one would have to pay $35.00 per year to join as a member-at-large. Now we can join for only $7.50 per year!

What will joining Astronomical League do for me? For starters, you will receive the "Reflector" magazine quarterly delivered to your home. This magazine is written for amateur astronomers by amateur astronomers and has articles, cartoons, poetry, book reviews, League business, and information about League services. You can also take advantage of a 10% discount through the League's Book Service.

Want to see your name in a national magazine? By completing any of the Observing Clubs such as: the Messier Club and Binocular Messier Club, Deep Sky Binocular Club, Hershel 400, Sunspotter Club, Meteor Club, Arp Peculiar Galaxy Club, Double Star Club or Lunar Club. Whatever your interest, there is probably an Observing Club. Complete the requirements and you will receive a pin and Certificate of Achievement as well as have your name listed in the "Reflector".

Finally, there is the annual National Convention "ALCON" held in different regions of the country, as well as regional conventions. In both instances, you can have access to the best and brightest names in amateur astronomy. This year the ALCON is being held in Des Moines, IA on July18-19. A sampling of the scheduled speakers includes: J. Kelly Beatty from Sky and Telescope, Jason D. Rhodes, NASA/JPL, Cal Tech, and Robert L. Gent, International Dark-Sky Association, just to name a few.

If you are interested in joining the Astronomical League, please send a check made out to TAAS for $7.50 to the PO Box. Questions, please contact Bev Firth at bevfirthrn@msn.com.
